Newcastle United revived its hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next season, after achieving a 2-0 retaliatory victory over its guest Manchester United on Sunday in the 29th round of the English Premier League.
Newcastle’s credit, which achieved its third consecutive victory in the championship, rose to 50 points from 27 matches, to advance from fifth place to third place, qualifying for the continental championship.
On the other hand, Manchester United’s balance, which suffered its seventh loss in the championship during the current season, stopped at 50 points in fourth place, with a goal difference behind Newcastle.
The two goals of the match came in the second half, as Joseph Willock opened the scoring for Newcastle in the 65th minute, while Kalium Wilson scored the second goal in the 88th minute.
With this victory, Newcastle was able to rehabilitate its loss by the same result against Manchester United in the League Cup final this season, which took place between them last February.
