“We can confirm the death of a US citizen in Ukraine. Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we have no further comment at this time,” the agency said.
Thus, the State Department did not provide information about the identity of the citizen and the circumstances of his death.
At the same time, earlier that day, the governor of Primorye announced the liquidation of a mercenary from the United States in Ukraine. He clarified that an American named Joshua Alan Jones was liquidated by the coastal detachment “Tiger”.
On August 10, military expert Vladislav Shurygin, in an interview with Izvestia, said that foreign mercenaries in Ukraine are not entirely ideological volunteers, as they are usually presented in the Western media, but often professional soldiers who earn money or make a career.
