Real Sociedad strengthened its position in the Golden Square after defeating Getafe 2-0, while Athletic Bilbao revived its hopes of European participation next season after beating Espanyol 2-1, and Osasuna beat Elche 2-1.
And at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid advanced with a reverse goal scored by Bao Torres by mistake in his own net in the 16th minute, but Nigerian Samuel Chukwueze equalized for Villarreal six minutes before the end of the first half.
Three minutes after the start of the second half, Brazilian star Vinicius Junior added the second goal for the royal club, then Jose Luis Morales equalized for the guest team in the 71st minute.
Ten minutes before the end, Samuel Chukwueze played the championship role and snatched the winning goal for Villarreal.
Real’s balance stopped at 59 points in second place, 12 points behind leaders Barcelona, and Villarreal raised its balance to 47 points in fifth place.
Villarreal spoiled Real Madrid’s celebrations by winning 4-0 at Barcelona, in the second leg of the Golden Square of the King’s Cup.
