In 1931, Prince Mozamjahi, son of the seventh Nizam Mir Usman Ali Khan, was married to the ruler of Hyderabad. Mozanjahi married Nilofar, the daughter of the then King of Turkey. After that Princess Nilofar.. established Nilofar in 1949. Nilofar likes to serve the poor. She also served as a nurse. However.. in 1949 Princess Niloufer’s maid died. Due to lack of proper medical facilities during delivery, Nilofar realized that she had died.
Princess Nilofar decided to ensure that no mother dies from now on. Nilofar explained to her uncle Nizam Mir Usman Ali Khan about the problems arising due to lack of proper medical facilities. In those days births were mostly done at home. Due to this, common problems arose.. The life of mother and child was not guaranteed. At such a time, after considering Nilofar’s request, Nizam took a crucial decision. It was decided to build a hospital for women and children. After telling that to princess Nilofar, the construction was started.
A special hospital for women and children was built under the Nizam in the Red Hills area of Hyderabad city. It was started as a 100-bed hospital in 1953 to meet the health needs of mothers and children. Later governments increased its capacity. Decisions were taken to increase it to 500 beds. It is noteworthy that twin children Veena and Vani, born in 2003, were also treated in this hospital. Not only these people.. Since 1953 Niloufer hospital has given breath to lakhs of people.
Princess Niloufer played a vital role in the construction of this hospital. Since the idea was also hers.. the name of the princess was given. Even the governments formed after the Nizam did not change its name. Still continuing.
