No one wears a mask here. A fine of Rs 4 crore was imposed in a single month

Mumbai: Despite the spread of Kovid, most people are reluctant to wear masks in densely populated Mumbai. More than two lakh people were fined Rs 4 crore in a month. The fine was levied by the Mumbai Police on people in the city from February 20 alone.

Two lakh people from different parts of the city were fined for not noticing people not wearing masks. Mumbai Police spokesperson DCP S Chaitanya said. 50% of the fine collected will be paid to the Municipal Corporation. The rest will be used for the welfare of the police.

In the country’s commercial capital, Mumbai, Kovid figures are soaring daily. Kovid spread is also severe in slums. Mumbai Airport has suffered heavy losses due to the expansion of Kovid. This is due to the low number of tourists during the Kovid period. Compared to the previous year, the number of passengers has dropped by about 80 per cent.

During the Kovid period, many people lost their jobs in Mumbai, where more and more people were migrating for employment. More than 50 percent of migrant workers were in crisis during the lockdown. Most companies still continue to cut workers’ wages and other restrictions following the collapse of the business
