The Karolinska Institute of Sweden has congratulated these two experts for developing a vaccine to fight the virus as the Covid virus has been identified as the biggest human health threat of the modern era.
Both these experts had published their study report in 2005 itself. But, in that case, this study report did not get much importance. However, the Karolinska Institute explained that when the Covid-19 pandemic took shape, it was these study reports that helped develop a vaccine.
Katalin Kariko, a Nobel laureate in medicine, is from Hungary. Drew Wiseman is an American citizen. The Covid vaccine prepared on the basis of their study report was approved at the end of 2020. After that, the worldwide vaccine production and distribution was done in parallel. This vaccine played an important role in saving the lives of millions of people.
