New Delhi. India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited Bangladesh on Monday. The Foreign Secretary held extensive talks with Mohammad Jashimuddin here. In which he raised the issue of attacks on Hindus and minorities. After this he also talked to the media. He also expressed concern about the attacks on religious places in Bangladesh.
After meeting Bangladesh Foreign Advisor Mohammad Tauheed Hussain, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that we also discussed recent developments and I also expressed my concerns related to the security and welfare of minorities. We also discussed the worrying incidents of attacks on cultural and religious sites.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that I emphasized that India wants positive, constructive and mutually beneficial relations with Bangladesh. I have today underlined India’s willingness to work closely with the Interim Government of Bangladesh. The visit marked the first high-level talks between the two countries since the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government came to power in Bangladesh.
The discussions covered a wide range of issues, including recent incidents of violence against minorities and the arrest of spiritual leader Chinmoy Krishna Das.
