In the state of Andhra Pradesh, the election of the president and vice-president of the Parishad, which has been stagnant for years, has been fixed. The State Election Commission (SEC) has given the green signal for the election of presidents and vice-presidents to 5 different zonal councils in 5 districts of the state. Election Commissioner Neelam Sahni on Friday issued a notification to this effect.
With this, Narsapuram in West Godavari district, Ungujuru in Krishna district, Pedakurapadu in Palnadu district and Podalakuru Mandal Parishad in Nellore district will go to the polls. Also, notification has been given to the Konaseema District Embassy Mandal Parishad for the election of two Vice-Presidents.
To this end, the election for the posts of President and Vice-President of the Mandal Parishads will be held on May 5 at 11 am, SEC Neelam Sahni said in the notification. The SEC has issued another notification for the election of 26 Gram Panchayat Sub-Sarpanches in 26 zones in 13 districts. The election of the Deputy Sarpanch will be held on May 5 at 11 am.
