Now travel in a ‘flying taxi’; Air Asia to launch next year

New Delhi: Malaysian airline Air Asia has announced that it will launch flying taxi services from next year. Tony Fernandes, Air Asia’s chief executive officer and co-founder, said the flying taxis would be launched in a year and a half and work was underway. He was speaking at an online discussion organized as part of the Youth Economic Forum.

Flying taxis with a seating capacity of four will be launched. In the first phase, the flying taxi service will be available to 22 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The company is offering low cost airline service. Air Asia said on Saturday that it had partnered with the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Center, a state agency, to launch a flying taxi service.

The airline business, which was hit hard by the Corona virus outbreak, is now on the path to recovery. In such a scenario, Air Asia has decided to expand its digital operations. As part of this, last year Air Asia launched a mobile app called Super App. The app offers travel, shopping, logistics and even financial services.
