San Francisco. Elon Musk’s Twitter logo on the web version has now become the letter ‘X’ and the blue bird that has been there for many years has disappeared. Along with this, the name of Twitter has also been changed to X.
Musk began indicating this change with a series of tweets on Sunday. One tweet said, “Soon we will be saying goodbye to the Twitter brand and slowly to all birds.”
Now the ‘X’ logo has replaced the blue bird on the web version of the platform.
Musk also changed the name of the company’s official account to ‘X’ along with the picture on the platform.
He also shared a picture of Twitter’s headquarters with the new logo and said, “Our headquarters tonight.”
The Twitter-owner said on Sunday that “X.com” has now been redirected to “Twitter.com”.
“Not sure what invisible signal made it happen, but I like the letter X.”
When a user asked, “Instead of retweet, what’s the new name? Rexed?”, Musk replied: “That whole concept needs to be reconsidered.”
They also launched a survey asking users whether they should change the default platform color to black.
When technology influencer Marques Brownlee tweeted, “I’ll still call it Twitter”, Musk replied: “Not for a long time.”
When a user asked if the users would now be called “Xers,” the tech billionaire said, “We won’t have a name.”
The Twitter-owner also confirmed that once the platform changes its name, a tweet will be called “A X”.
On the other hand, Twitter CEO Linda Yacarino said on Monday, “It’s exceptionally rare – in life or in business – that you get a second chance to make another big impression. Twitter made a huge impact and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go on to transform the global city square.”
According to Yacarino, X is a “future state of limitless interactivity” centered in “audio, video, messaging, payments/banking”, creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services and opportunities.
He further noted that the company has “started to see X take shape over the past eight months through our rapid feature launch.”
