Today, leaders from around the world shared messages of solidarity with the Turkish people and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the seventh anniversary of the failed coup attempt carried out by the terrorist organization FETO in Turkey on this day in 2016, reports Anadolu.
The Day of Democracy and National Unity is being celebrated in Turkey today, and the martyrs who laid down their lives seven years ago in defense of the state and democratic values are being honored in appropriate ways.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the martyrs and expressed solidarity with the brave Turkish people who bravely stood up to the heinous attempt to deny them democracy and basic rights.
“This historic and epoch-making day in 2016 also represented unwavering faith and deep trust in the dynamic leadership of my brother President Erdogan. The conclusion of the day was that nations can overcome any challenge with the strength of unity, brotherhood and deep connection,” said Sharif.
Raja Pervez Ashraf, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, also expressed his unwavering solidarity and unwavering support to the brotherly people, the Parliament and the Government of the Republic of Turkey.
“The brave resistance of the Turkish people to the vile coup attempt on July 15, 2016 is an excellent example of how nations can overcome obstacles and difficulties by cooperating with courage, determination and commitment,” Ashraf said.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev sent a letter to his Turkish colleague Erdogan on this occasion.
In the letter, Aliyev marked with deep respect the precious memory of those who sacrificed their lives to prevent the coup attempt.
Aliyev pointed out that the victory, won at the cost of the blood and lives of martyrs, confirmed the love of the Turkish people for their homeland, their fighting spirit and invincibility.
“The Day of Democracy and National Unity, which is a symbol of solidarity and national unity, will remain as a day of great honor in the history of the Turkish state,” said Aliyev.
He added that the Azerbaijani people and state stood by Turkiye from the very beginning of this struggle, condemning the traitors who attacked the constitutional structure of the country and the legitimate government.
Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani also sent a telegram to the Turkish President of the Republic of Turkey Erdogan on the occasion of the Day of Democracy and National Unity of his country.
Ersin Tatar, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) also paid tribute to Turkish martyrs and sent messages of support and solidarity to the Turkish people.
“Once again, I strongly condemn the FETO coup attempt on July 15, 2016, on its seventh anniversary, I pay tribute to all our martyrs and express my gratitude to the ghazis,” Tatar said.
