Chennai: The ODI World Cup series will be held in India in the coming months of October and November. In this case, it is said that the Pakistan team does not want to play against the Afghanistan team at the Chennai-Chepakkam cricket ground, which is favorable for the spin. Similarly, it has been reported that Pakistan does not want to play against the Australian team at the Bengaluru stadium, which is favorable for batting.
Before announcing the World Cup schedule, the International Cricket Council (ICC), including the Pakistan Cricket Board, has sent the draft schedule to the participating teams and asked for their suggestions.
Accordingly, the Pakistan Cricket Board has sent the draft schedule to their team’s expert panel. According to him, playing against Afghanistan at the spin-friendly Chepbakk stadium and playing against Australia at the batting-friendly Bengaluru stadium will not be suitable for the team. So it is reported that Pakistan wants to play against Aussies in Chennai and against Afghanistan in Bengaluru.
Afghanistan’s spinners like Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed will be very difficult for Pakistan batsmen to deal with at Cheppak. It is noteworthy that both of them bowled well for the Gujarat team in the recently concluded IPL season.
However, BCCI sources said that the teams must have a strong reason to change the venue. It seems that the matches that the Pakistan team is going to play will mostly be held in Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Ahmedabad stadiums. It has been reported that India and Pakistan will play this series on October 15 at the Ahmedabad Cricket Stadium.
