Bhubaneswar: Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das was shot by an assistant police inspector on security duty.
Odisha Health Minister Napa Das had visited Prajaraj Nagar in Jharkuda district to attend a function. When Minister Naba Kishore Das got out of his car, Assistant Police Inspector Gopal Das, who was on security duty, fired at the minister’s chest. After he fired four to five times, Minister Naba Kishore Das collapsed. During this incident, Gopal Das opened fire on two people including the local police inspector. All three were admitted to the hospital. According to the police, the shooter, Gopal Das, did not try to run away and has been arrested.
Minister Naba Kishore Das, who was admitted to the Jharsuguda District Head Hospital, has been shifted to Bhubaneswar for further treatment. His condition is said to be critical. The police officers who interrogated Gopal Das said that the firing may have been done due to personal enmity. They also said that Gopal Das is being interrogated.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has strongly condemned the firing. In his message about this, it is said that the shooting incident on Naba Kishore Das is shocking and he strongly condemns this incident. The chief minister said that he prayed for the speedy recovery of Naba Kishore Das and mentioned that the investigation department has been ordered to investigate the incident.
