Oman has clarified its stance on making the weekend holiday three days

Oman: Oman has clarified its position on increasing the weekend holiday in the country to three days instead of two days. Labor Minister Dr. Mahad bin Said bin Ali Baoin has come forward to clarify the position. The Minister of Labor has stated that the matter of raising the holiday is not under consideration at present. A member of the Shura Council raised the question whether the official working days will be reduced to four. This is the position of the Minister of Labor.

The Minister of Labor announced this in the seventh session of the fourth annual sitting of the ninth term held yesterday under the chairmanship of Shura Council Chairman Khalid bin Hilal Al-Mawali. Many countries have given three days holiday. However, there were various opinions that did not believe that Oman would implement this. The minister’s reply has arrived in this regard.

Looking at the figures from January 2021 to December 2022, 86,530 male and female citizens were employed in the public and private sectors. Also, the minister spoke about the Ministry’s projects, programs, laws and new projects related to public and private sector jobs as part of Oman Vision 2040. It has been decided to implement various types of projects in order to formulate a national employment policy in the country and to find a new system for indigenization of jobs. Omanis have started to be trained for many jobs. The minister said that the ministry provides 91 different services.
