Visited World Cup stadiums
After the first day of official meetings, the Sultan of Oman visited the World Cup Stadiums in Qatar and the Qatar Foundation, an educational complex, with the Emir yesterday. The Sultan also met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The Sultan was accompanied by Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during a visit to the Al Bayt Stadium, the inaugural venue of the FIFA World Cup. The team visited the training facilities, fan zone and air-conditioning system at the stadium. He was briefed on the construction and architectural features of the stadium.
The sultan was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the Deputy Prime Minister of Oman Syed Shihab bin Tariq Al Saeed. The Sultan of Oman commended Qatar on its preparations for the FIFA World Cup. He also hoped that Qatar would be able to enhance the country’s image by hosting the World Cup in the best possible way.
Cooperation in the field of education will be strengthened
After visiting the stadium, the Oman ruler and his team visited the headquarters of the Qatar Foundation, Qatar’s Center for Higher Education. He and his team were briefed on the events, history and growth of the Qatar Foundation in the field of education and scientific research. It also reviewed various projects being implemented in collaboration with the Qatar Foundation in the field of education in Oman. It was agreed during the discussions to further strengthen cooperation in the field of education. He visited the Qatar National Library and looked at various historical documents and exhibitions, as well as manuscripts marking the history of Qatar and the Arab region. The Sultan also met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The Sultan of Oman returned home yesterday afternoon to thank Qatar for its warm welcome.
Decision to strengthen cooperation
The Qatar News Agency reported that the decision was taken during talks between the two rulers to expand cooperation between Qatar and Oman to more areas. The two leaders signed six cooperation agreements in various fields. The agreements were related to military cooperation, dual tax avoidance, investment in various sectors, cooperation in labor and human resource development, tourism, hospitality and port transport, the Amiri Diwan said in a statement. In addition to avoiding double taxation, the two countries also agreed to prevent evasion of income tax and capital tax. Qatar Investment Authority and Oman Investment Authority have signed a cooperation agreement on investment. The two leaders agreed to strengthen trade between the two countries and strengthen the participation of the private sector in cooperation. Both leaders called for the strengthening of the Gulf Co-operation Council to ensure the security of the region and for a lasting solution to the Palestinian problem.
