The Oman national team overcame a goal deficit against its Qatari counterpart to an exciting victory (2-1), yesterday, in the second round of the first group matches of the Arabian Gulf Football Cup (Gulf 26), currently being held in Kuwait.
Al-Moez Ali scored an early goal for Al-Anabi of Qatar just two minutes after the start of the match, but Issam Al-Subhi equalized for Al-Ahmar of Oman from a penalty kick in the 20th minute.
Seven minutes after the start of the second half, Al-Subhi assumed the heroic role and scored the second goal for himself and the Oman national team.
The Omani team played realistically during the confrontation that was held at Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium, as its players left the performance to their opponent, and in return they won the result of the match, enhancing their chances of qualifying for the second round after reaching the fourth point, while Al-Anabi’s points froze at one point.
Throughout the two halves of the match, the Qatari side was the most dangerous with the many chances that its players got, and they did not capitalize on the early goal that had been scored by striker Al-Moez Ali. As time passed, the Omani team players held together and did not delay long in returning to the atmosphere of the match, as they got a kick. The second half began with dangerous Qatari attempts that were unsuccessful, but the Omani side took advantage and scored the lead goal after a wonderful team performance by its player Issam Al-Subhi.
The last minutes witnessed a series of opportunities for the Qatari team, but its players excelled in wasting them, while the Omani defense line and their goalkeeper behind them were valiant, which gave them victory and exit with the three points.
