Srinagar. Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are near. Meanwhile, news has come that National Conference Vice President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has filed his nomination from Ganderbal. According to sources, there is also news that he may contest elections from Budgam assembly constituency.
Omar Abdullah became very emotional while addressing the workers after filing his nomination papers. He took off his cap and appealed to the people to vote for him. Omar said to the people that I appeal to you with folded hands to protect my honour in the elections.
Omar Abdullah said, ‘I have filed my nomination from Ganderbal. Let’s not talk about who is contesting from where. The people of Ganderbal have elected me as a Member of Parliament three times and as an MLA once. I left my seat for Ishfaq Jabbar only because I promised him to do so and then he became an MLA but he betrayed the people of Ganderbal. Today we are going to contest the election for the development of Ganderbal.’
Omar Abdullah said that I won the election from Ganderbal in the year 2008 and started many development works here. We had promised to make Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar our candidate in the elections, so we made him contest the elections from here in 2014. Ishfaq Jabbar also won the election from here but after becoming MLA he could not fulfill the expectations of the local people.
