Srinagar. Assembly elections are being held in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years. The first phase of voting has been completed in the state. Voting is going on for the second phase on 26 assembly seats on Wednesday. In the second phase, more than 25 lakh voters will decide the fate of 239 candidates. Till 11 am, 24.10 percent voting has taken place.
On the other hand, a delegation of foreign diplomats from various countries reached a polling station in Bemina area of Srinagar to watch the voting process. A Rwandan diplomat said, “The organization is going smoothly and we have been told that voting has started at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm … They are expecting everyone to come and vote.”
National Conference vice-president and former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday criticized the Centre’s decision to invite foreign diplomats to observe the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that this election is India’s internal matter and I don’t know why foreigners should have been invited to monitor and monitor the election process.
On the visit of foreign diplomats to Jammu and Kashmir to witness the voting process, Omar Abdullah said, “I don’t understand it. When the same people comment on Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian government issues a statement that Jammu and Kashmir is our internal matter and others should not interfere in it. If you don’t want interference or their comments, then why are they being brought here? This is not good.”
