A dust storm with a strong wind began in Omsk. This was announced by the press service of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations on Friday, May 6.
“According to weather forecasters, a very strong wind with gusts of 25 m/s is observed in the Nazyvaevsky district of the Omsk region, and 22 m/s in the city of Omsk,” the report says.
During the day on May 6, with persistence at night on May 7, a strong wind of 25 m/s or more is expected. Forecasters are predicting a cold spell tonight. The thermometer will drop to -3 degrees, when it clears up to -8, NSN reports. Omsk residents were also warned about the upcoming Friday thunderstorms and rain turning into snow. In the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, residents were advised not to leave their homes unnecessarily and to be careful.
The department also noted that a complex fire hazard situation is observed in the region. Rescuers asked residents of the region to observe safety measures. They stressed that in strong winds, any spark could start a fire. A special fire regime operates in the region, the 360 TV channel reports.
Earlier, on April 26, in Novosibirsk, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the region issued an emergency weather warning that could lead to wildfires. In the Zaeltsovsky and Leninsky districts, they warned about the possibility of dust storms.
