On Kartik Purnima, lakhs of devotees gathered at Dalmau Ganga Ghat in Rae Bareli to take a holy dip in the Ganga, making the area echo with chants of “Har Har Gange”. A huge crowd was seen at the fair and local authorities were on high alert to control the situation. On this day people take bath in river Ganga and attain virtue. On the day of Kartik Purnima, people participate in various religious rituals, including bathing in the Ganga, offering prayers, and making donations. This festival is considered very important in Hindu religion and is celebrated all over India.
A huge crowd was seen on the banks of Ganga in Varanasi. On Kartik Purnima, lakhs of devotees gather at the ghats of Varanasi to take a holy dip in the Ganga, believing that this will fulfill their wishes and absolve them of their sins. On Kartik Purnima, thousands of devotees gathered at the Balua Ghat in Prayagraj to take a holy dip in the Yamuna, in search of spiritual merit and blessings.
A grand fair of one month is organized on the banks of river Yamuna at Baluaghat in Prayagraj. Crowds of devotees started gathering at the ghats since morning to take bath. There were a large number of people, especially women, coming from rural areas. Devotees will perform Aarti of Mother Ganga in the evening. After bathing in Ganga, devotees donated lamps in the river stream.
