New Delhi. The bill related to One Nation-One Election has been sent to the JPC for discussion immediately after its introduction in the Lok Sabha. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will form the JPC. Priyanka Gandhi’s name has been put forward by Congress for JPC. Along with him, the party also wants to include Manish Tiwari, Sukhdev Bhagat and Randeep Surjewala in JPC.

According to sources, Congress’s Manish Tiwari, Sukhdev Bhagat and Randeep Surjewala can also join JPC along with him. Let us tell you that on Tuesday, a bill related to one country, one election was introduced in the Lok Sabha. But then it was sent to JPC.
The opposition, while targeting the government, had said that the bill was against the basic spirit of the federal structure. While talking to the media in the Parliament complex, Priyanka Gandhi had called the bill unconstitutional. He had said that this is against the federal structure and we oppose it. The central government wants to reach a consensus with the opposition on the One Nation-One Election bill. This is why the bill has been sent to JPC for discussion.
Electronic voting took place after the introduction of the (One Nation-One Election) bill in the Lok Sabha. During this, 220 votes were cast in favor of the bill and 149 against it. After opposition’s protest, voting was conducted again by slip. This time 269 votes were cast in favor of the bill and 198 votes were cast against it. Let us tell you that for a Constitution amendment bill, two-thirds majority is required in the Parliament.
