New Delhi: The online gaming industry in India is growing at a tremendous rate. At the same time, cases of suicide due to loss of money in gambling games like online rummy have also increased. In this case, the central government will bring a new law to regulate the online gaming industry in such a way that its chances are not affected. The central government released the draft bill in this regard on the 2nd of last month.
The bill mentioned that a self-regulatory authority would be created to regulate online games and the authority would be registered under the Union IT Ministry. The bill also said that the commission would have the power to scrutinize the content of video games and give them permission.
In this case, “The Online Gaming Draft Bill is right in purpose. But there are flaws in planning,” commented the Internet and Mobile Association of India.
Regarding this, the association further said, “The initiative taken by the central government to regulate the online gaming industry is important. But, there are flaws in the planning. The definition of online gaming in the bill is vague. Even things that do not need to be regulated have been brought under strict control. In that regard, many provisions proposed in the bill need to be reconsidered.
