Óscar Kabata demands that they not forget his torture case
Since 2008, in the midst of the war against drug trafficking during Felipe Calderón’s six-year term, the Chihuahua Joint Operationwhich had the objective of sending soldiers to try to put an end to the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas.
In accordance with the recommendation of the CNDH, on February 26, 2009, two young people, ages 17 and 21, were detained by the Army in Ciudad Juarez. These are Óscar Kabata and Víctor Baca Prieto, respectively.
They put them in a truck, put balaclavas on them, and took them down a dirt road until they changed trucks.
In a certain place, which was later identified as a Military Garrison, They brutally beat them and tortured them by asking them about an alleged kidnapped councilor.
One of them was executed with a bullet to the head and the body was taken to clean the place with chlorine. After several days of brutal torture, they left him in a vacant lot on the outskirts of the city. He arrived at his mother’s friend’s house at around 12:40 a.m. on March 3, 2009.
The CNDH found serious human rights violations by military personnel against 3 people.
He accredited the torture of these people by soldiers from the 46th Infantry Battalion of Ciudad Juárez, in addition to the execution of one person. They determined that 9 soldiers participated.
Many years later, since April 7, 2021, activist Óscar Kabata has been holding a sit-in with his mother in front of the SEDENA offices. They ask for justice and reparation for the damage in the case in which he was a victim.
He claims that throughout this process he has been revictimized. And the act of crucifixion in the National Palace is also to demand that all the victims of this country be cared for.
