It has been revealed that more than 1 lakh cases are pending in district and taluk courts across the country for more than 30 years. Out of which more than 67 thousand cases are criminal cases and more than 33 thousand cases are civil cases. Uttar Pradesh is at the top with 41,210 cases followed by Maharashtra with 23,483 cases.
West Bengal (14,345) and Bihar (11,713) are ranked 3rd and 4th respectively. 91% of the total cases pending for more than 30 years are in these 4 states alone. Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Manipur and Jammu and Kashmir have under 100 pending cases. Over a thousand are pending in Odisha (4,248) and Gujarat (2,826).
