Walter Angeles owner of the Hermanos Guerrero orchestra, revealed in the program to a local media that his group continues to be a victim of extortion and that, despite the seriousness of the situation, they have not yet filed a complaint with the authorities. The leader of the cumbia group explained that they fear retaliation against the members of the orchestra, which has prevented them from taking the necessary legal measures.

“We want to work, but we are afraid,” he said. Walter Angeles to ADN Regional of RPP, who also shared that the extortions, which include constant threats and demands for money, have generated an atmosphere of fear in the group. This situation has led to other renowned musical groups, such as The Only Tropical, Harmony 10, Corazón Serrano, Agua Marina and Group 5 to call to implement drastic measures that help reverse the high rates of citizen insecurity that affect the country.
The case of the Hermanos Guerrero orchestra began to gain notoriety following the murder of Thalia Manrique Castillo singer of the group, who lost his life during an assault on the Fernando Belaunde highway, in the region of Amazon at the beginning of November. Since the tragic incident, the group has been the victim of threats from unknown people demanding money.

“They are asking us for money and we are afraid. The police don’t know, out of fear I haven’t reported it,” said Walter Ángeles in the interview. He added that, since Thalía’s death, the insecurity situation has worsened and now they fear for their personal safety. Ángeles revealed that some of the extortionists have even made calls from prisons, which increases the group’s anguish.
Despite threats and constant fear, the orchestra Warrior Brothers has chosen not to make the complaint public due to fear of retaliation. “First it was Thalía’s death and now this. The group is better known and sometimes they call us from the prison. Since I have a call detector, that comes out. We need protection, please,” explained the owner of the orchestra.
