Islamabad: The Supreme Court has given its verdict in the case related to the central government’s cancellation of the special status of the Jammu and Kashmir region. In this case, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani has expressed his opinion about it.
In August 2019, the central government abrogated Article 370, which granted special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. A case was also filed in the Supreme Court against it by various parties. A five-judge bench delivered its judgment in the case on Monday. The court upheld the unanimous decision of the central government. Various parties are giving their opinion on this.
“The court decision revoking the special status has no legal value. International law does not recognize this move by India, which unilaterally enacted the law in 2019.
The issue of Jammu and Kashmir should be taken on the basis of the UN Security Council resolution and the will of the people of Kashmir. Therefore, Pakistan does not accept the supremacy of the Indian Constitution. Due to the abrogation of special status, the people of Kashmir are a disempowered community in their own land,” he said.
