Goa: External Affairs Minister Jaishankar has accused Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari of promoting and justifying terrorism.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Foreign Ministers Conference in Goa concluded yesterday. In this, Jaishankar emphasized that the path of funding for terrorism should be blocked and member states should act against all types of terrorist activities including cross-border terrorism. Terrorism should not be justified by anything, he said.
Speaking after this, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari mentioned that terrorism is used as a weapon to blame a country. The Indian side alleged that his speech was aimed at justifying terrorism. Speaking to the media, Jaishankar criticized Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as the promoter, justifyer and spokesperson of terrorism.
Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Kong issued an official statement following talks with Jaishankar. It said that the Line of Control section is stable. Responding to a question from reporters, Jaishankar said, “That is not the problem. Both countries should decommission the border. At present, India-China relations are not stable. Relations cannot be stable when there are events that affect peace.”
