We must be able to unite with the victims of all other conflicts, regardless of race, nationality or religion, as we seek to find a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine crisis. The most serious of these is the Palestinian issue. It has remained a non-healing wound since the founding of the United Nations. Palestinian families have been under occupation for decades. They do not see even the slightest hint of relief as hope. Illegal immigration to their land is still going on. The Emir of Qatar said that Israel was continuing its attacks on the Palestinian people. The Emir of Qatar added that his prayer was that the world would wake up and work against this injustice and violence.

The Emir of Qatar also recalled the case of Shirin Abu Akhila, an Al Jazeera journalist who was killed by Israeli forces earlier this month in the occupied West Bank. Shirin’s assassination is as horrific as the seven journalists killed in Ukraine since March this year. Eighteen Palestinian journalists have been killed since 2000. Many journalists have been killed on the job in Iraq, Syria and Yemen. The Emir of Qatar also reminded that attacks on journalists should not be tolerated. He also openly stated that the double standard of governments that value people on the basis of religion, country or race is unacceptable. The Emir of Qatar added that they consider the value of every European citizen to be as valuable as that of a person from their own country.
