Husband and wife from Nagavaram village, Krosuru mandal, Palnadu district, studied till degree. But they are farming with passion for organic farming. In this way guava trees are cultivated in four acres. Both husband and wife were happy as the harvest was good. But their whole guava grove has now turned to ashes.
The husband and wife allege that Kuntella Seenu, a farmer from the neighboring farm, burnt their entire guava crop. It is said that he burned himself with stomach fire. They are complaining that he did the same thing less than four years ago and he is threatening to do what he will do if questioned. They have admitted their children to college.. They are expressing their anguish as the life-supporting garden has been reduced to ashes. It is estimated that the value of crop loss can be up to tens of lakhs. After inspecting the incident site, the police have registered a case and are investigating.
Another similar incident took place in Kadapa district last month. Guava trees belonging to a farmer named Talari Kanthamma in Gorigenur of Jammalamadugu mandal were also burnt. Kanthamma planted guava trees in her one and a half acre farm.. The local farmers saw the fire and immediately informed Kanthamma. When she went there, the garden was burnt to ashes.
Kanthamma expressed grief that a total of 600 guava trees and drip equipment were burnt. He has about Rs. 2.50 lakhs loss.. He asked the government to help him. It is suspected that miscreants have set the fire, sparks fell from the transformer and the fire broke out. After receiving the information, the police went to the farm and inspected it. Farmers are advised to file a complaint against anyone if they are suspicious. A case has been registered and investigation is being conducted on the incident of burning the guava plantation.
