Dr. Gaurav Gupta of Orthopedics Department is monitoring Pant’s condition. His health is stable. There were no life threatening injuries. A member of the medical team said that his mother is in the hospital along with Pant.
Dr. Qamar Azam, who is in charge of Sports Injury Department at AIIMS Rishikesh, responded about the severity of Pant’s injuries. It takes at least three to six months to recover from a knee ligament injury. If the injury is severe, it may take longer. He added that the final report will be based on the full report of the injury.
With this, Rishabh Pant’s participation in the four-Test series against Australia, which will begin on February 9 at home, has become doubtful. Pant, who has played a key role in India’s victories in the last two years in Tests, is likely to miss the crucial series if it becomes a problem for the team.
Not only that, judging by the severity of the injury, there is a possibility that Pant will miss the IPL in the 2023 season as well. It is known that this young wicket keeper is the captain of the Delhi Capitals franchise.
BCCI has already announced that they will ensure better treatment for Pant. She assured him that she would support him in every way. Other injuries are being treated at Dehradun Hospital. BCCI is likely to take up the responsibility of treating the ankle ligament injury after he recovers from minor injuries. If it is felt that Pant needs treatment abroad, there is no possibility of sending him abroad.
Pant, who played in the recently concluded two-Test series against Bangladesh, missed the white-ball series against Sri Lanka. The BCCI ordered Pant to report to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. Pant’s return to international cricket is likely to be delayed as he recovers from the car accident.
