Odisha. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ for the eastern districts of Uttar Pradesh. This storm will bring heavy rains in Odisha and West Bengal as well as eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh. Senior meteorologist Mohammad Danish said that rains may start in these areas from October 24.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that cyclone ‘Dana’ will blow winds at a speed of 100 to 120 kilometers per hour in the coastal areas of West Bengal. This cyclone is likely to hit the coast of Odisha between the night of 24 October and the morning of 25 October. During this period, an alert of heavy rain and strong winds has been issued. According to Railways sources, a total of 85 long distance trains from Howrah, Shalimar and Santragachi have been cancelled, while 93 trains coming from the down line have also been cancelled.
Railways has ensured that trains do not roll-down due to strong winds, for this, shackles are being installed on the wheels of trains and special devices called ‘Gutka’ are being placed under the wheels. . On the other hand, in the official order issued by the Odisha government, it has been said that all the schools and colleges of Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Angul, Nayagarh, Cuttack and Khurda districts. Universities, technical/professional institutes, polytechnics and ITIs will remain closed for three days (23 to 25 October).
Due to cyclonic storm ‘Dana’, there is a possibility of heavy rains in many districts of Odisha and West Bengal as well as eastern Uttar Pradesh. Especially its impact will be seen more in districts like Varanasi, Ghazipur, Prayagraj, Ballia, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Kushinagar, Mau, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Bhadohi, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Siddharth Nagar and Maharajganj.
