Chennai. In Tamil Nadu, a coach of Puducherry bound MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) train derailed near Villupuram and a major accident was averted. The loco pilot saw this and immediately stopped the train. However, no one was injured and traffic was restored in about 3 hours.
The official said that the cause of the derailment will be known only after the completion of the investigation, orders for which have been given. Railway employees and engineers reached the spot and are actively working to repair the derailed train. There was no report of any casualty in the incident and train movement was restored within three hours.

The Villupuram-Puducherry train carrying around 500 passengers departed from Villupuram at 5.25 am.
The train was crossing a turn when one of its coaches derailed and the loco pilot immediately stopped the train. Due to this accident, train services on Villupuram route were disrupted till 8.30 am. Let us tell you that Villupuram-Puducherry MEMU is a short distance train which covers a distance of about 38 kilometers.
