In the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YaNAO), a passenger train car, running from Novy Urengoy to Orenburg, caught fire. This was reported on Friday, June 24, by the press service of the Ural Transport Prosecutor’s Office.
It is noted that at 04:10 (02:10 Moscow time) on the stage Khanymey – Noyabrsk-2 of the Sverdlovsk railway, the car of the 13th passenger train 379 caught fire.
“There were 19 people in the car, there were no victims or injured. Currently, traffic on the site is suspended, – the department said in a statement.
It is specified that the burning car was uncoupled and extinguished. The prosecutor’s office called arson the preliminary cause of the incident. The arsonist has not yet been found.
An investigative team was sent to the scene of the incident. The Novy Urengoy transport prosecutor’s office began an investigation.
Earlier, on May 28, a diesel locomotive of a passenger train caught fire in the Volgograd region. The fire was extinguished by the crews of the fire and rescue unit who arrived at the scene. It was noted that there were no dead or injured.
In January, an electric train caught fire in the village of Konobeevo near Moscow, about 300 passengers were evacuated.
