San Francisco. Global software company Pegasystems is laying off 4 per cent of its workforce i.e. around 240 employees, cutting jobs for the second time this year.
US-based PegaSystems (Pega) said in a public filing that it plans to cut about 4 percent of its workforce across various geographies, citing a restructuring of its customer success roles, Boston Business Journal reports. .
Pega expects some of the cuts to affect Massachusetts state employees, the company said in a statement.
“These will be go-to-market roles to simplify our customer engagement approach and better support our business strategy,” the company said.
Pega is “reorganizing” its workforce to “enhance and simplify our customer engagement.”
In January this year, the software company had announced laying off 4 percent of its over 6,000 employees.
The workforce reduction is part of the company’s goal to improve its operating model, the company’s filing said.
The company engaged in a detailed review to improve its “go-to-market operating model”.
In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the firm said it is expected to take a charge of $18.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2022 related to cash severance and benefit costs for terminated employees.
The company had approximately 6,500 employees globally with three regional headquarters in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
