Al Wasl’s Colombian defender, Alexis Perez, expressed his dissatisfaction with Al Wasl’s draw with Al Jazira in the seventh round of the ADNOC Professional League, stressing that the “Emperor” misses appearing as a “hero” in league matches.
Perez (30 years old) told Emirates Al-Youm that the team continued to drop points by tying with Al-Jazira with two goals each, the day before yesterday, at Zabeel Stadium, indicating that the result brings the taste of loss for Al-Wasl.
He explained: “We lost two points on our home field after we were ahead until the last minutes of the match, and we continued to stay away from victories in the previous rounds of the league competition, so we must rearrange our accounts in the coming period.”
He added: “We should have shown the character of a champion, as our team is the defending champion, and we must have a better reaction than that, whether during the match or after stumbling in previous matches, as the team possesses the capabilities that qualify it to rise again and improve.” Results.
Speaking about the Al Jazira match, Perez said: “We played well, even though the opponent scored the first goal, but we had a good reaction and scored the equalizer. We also started the second half wonderfully by adding the second goal, but the team did not maintain its focus until the end of the match. He conceded the equalizer in the last minutes.”
He continued: “We wasted many opportunities that could have decided the match in our favor, and we must learn from these mistakes, because the difference in points has widened significantly with the teams competing for the lead.”
The Colombian defender pointed out the need to close the file on the Al Jazira match and think about the upcoming matches, and said: “We will play an important match the day after tomorrow in the AFC Champions League for the elite against Al Sadd of Qatar, and it is a difficult match that we must enter with all our focus, especially since the match is being held in our stadium, and the result of the match is… Important in qualifying for the next round.”
As for Al-Wasl’s chances of competing for the league title, he said: “It is too early to talk about Al-Wasl moving away from the competition, as each team played only seven matches, and for our part, we will fight until the end, but the most important thing, as I mentioned, is to correct the mistakes we made in the past matches.” We must be more focused and determined to achieve victories, to appear as a champion, and to regain what we presented last season, and to obtain the league and cup double, even though that has become a thing of the past, but at the same time we must be inspired by the positive things that happened and contributed to this achievement. And we will repeat it in the coming period.”
