Petrol and diesel prices are stable in the national capital, Delhi. In Delhi, the price of a liter of petrol is Rs 105.41. The diesel rate is Rs 96.67 per liter. In Mumbai, the price of a liter of petrol is above Rs 120. The diesel rate was recorded at Rs 104.77.

Controversy has erupted between the central states over the imposition of taxes on petrol and diesel. The Center has accused the opposition-ruled states of not reducing VAT on petrol and diesel. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has alleged that even though the Center has reduced the excise duty, it has not reduced the VAT to that extent. The states are refuting these allegations.
Oil marketing companies, on the other hand, review prices at six o’clock every morning according to international rates. However, these prices include the excise duty of the Central Government and the VAT of the State Governments. VAT is levied by each state. This will cause a change in prices.
