Petroleum prices rise 9.40 percent: February Wholesale Price Index


In February 2021, prices of minerals rose by 9.40 per cent and crude petroleum and natural gas by 6.50 per cent.

The Office of Economic Advisers, Department of Industrial Development and Domestic Trade, has released the (Provisional) Wholesale Price Index for the month of February, 2021.

Inflation for the month of February 2021 was 4.17 per cent (provisional) based on the monthly wholesale price index. It was 2.26 per cent in the same month last year.

The Commodity Group Index rose 1.04 percent to 145.4 in February 2021 (provisional). It was 143.9 in January 2021.

Compared to January 2021, prices of minerals rose by 9.40 per cent in February 2021, crude petroleum and natural gas by 6.50 per cent and food prices by 0.51 per cent.

Prices of non-food items (-0.51 per cent) in February 2021 were lower than in January 2021.
