New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Brunei on Tuesday in the first phase of his two-nation visit. Where PM Modi was given a warm welcome. On Wednesday, PM Modi held a bilateral meeting with Brunei Sultan Haji Hassan Al Bolkiah. During this, many important issues were discussed.
There was discussion about increasing trade, commercial relations and people-to-people exchange between the two. Earlier, PM Modi was welcomed by the Sultan and his family members at Istana Nurul Iman. This is the official residence of the Sultan and the headquarters of the Brunei government. PM Modi will leave for Singapore from Brunei on Wednesday.
Let us tell you that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Brunei on a bilateral visit. However, in the year 2013, the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh went to Brunei to attend the 11th ASEAN-India Summit. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Brunei Darussalam on Tuesday on a two-day visit. Where he was welcomed by Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah. Apart from this, PM Modi was also given a ‘Guard of Honor’ at the airport.
After this, when PM Modi reached a hotel in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, the people of the Indian community welcomed him warmly. He interacted with the people of the community and a girl presented Modi with his ‘sketch’. PM Modi looked very happy after seeing the painting made by a girl. Actually, this visit of PM Modi is also special in the sense that this is the first visit of any Prime Minister of India. Along with this, this year also marks the completion of 40 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
