New Delhi. Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday night. He was 92 years old. The former PM was ill for a long time. After fainting at home, he was brought to Delhi AIIMS at 8:06 pm. His last rites will be performed with state honours.
According to the hospital bulletin, he was admitted to the emergency ward, where he breathed his last at 9:51 pm. Due to the demise of Manmohan Singh, the Central Government has declared 7 days of national mourning. Cabinet meeting has been called at 11 am. Also, all the programs scheduled for Friday have been cancelled. After the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Congress flag has been lowered to half mast at the Congress headquarters.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his last tribute to late former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and expressed condolences to his family. Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached the residence of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to pay tribute to him. JP Nadda is also present with Shah. Manmohan’s mortal remains will be kept at the Congress headquarters tomorrow, where common people will pay homage to him. His last rites will be performed near Rajghat.
The Indian team has also expressed grief over the demise of the country’s former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The Indian team playing the Test with Australia in Melbourne entered the field wearing a black band. Manmohan Singh became the 14th Prime Minister of the country in 2004. He had completed two terms on this post till May 2014. He was the country’s first Sikh and fourth longest serving Prime Minister.
