Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi filed his nomination papers from Varanasi Lok Sabha seat on Tuesday. Dressed in white kurta-pajama and blue saree, Modi reached the Varanasi District Magistrate’s office (Collectorate) to file his nomination papers.
During this period, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present. Before filing nomination papers, Modi waved to the crowd that had gathered to welcome him. “My relationship with Kashi is unique, integral and incomparable… I can say that it cannot be expressed in words,” he wrote in a post on social media platform ‘X’.
Before filing nomination from Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency, PM Modi on Tuesday morning worshiped at Dashashwamedh Ghat on the banks of river Ganga and visited Kaal Bhairav temple. He also performed aarti amidst chanting of Vedic mantras at the ghat. Voting will be held in the seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections in Varanasi on June 1.
The four proposers for the nomination of PM Modi were Pandit Ganeshwar Shastri, Baijnath Patel, Lalchand Kushwaha and Sanjay Sonkar. In fact, nomination of a candidate in an election is considered incomplete without a proposer. The Returning Officer has to verify the signatures of the proposers. PM Modi had performed darshan and puja as per the rituals at Kashi Vishwanath temple on Monday. He reached Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple in the evening after completing a road show of about six kilometers.
