Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the place where the lander of Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft landed on the moon will be named as ‘Shivashakti’.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to personally meet and congratulate the ISRO scientists responsible for the success of the Chandrayaan-3 programme. He went to South Africa to participate in the BRICS conference and also went to Greece on a one-day trip. From there, he reached Bengaluru yesterday at 5.30 am.
More than 5,000 BJP members gave an enthusiastic welcome to Modi when he landed at the HAL airport. Then he went to ISRO center from there. At that time the BJP people gathered on both sides of the road showered flowers on him and expressed their happiness.
Prime Minister Modi met ISRO chief Somnath and the scientists who worked on the Chandrayaan 3 project at the ISRO center, shaking hands and applauding them. Somnath presented him with photographs taken by the lander. Project Director Weeramuthuvel gifted a model of the lander to Modi. Prime Minister Modi congratulated him
Then Prime Minister Modi spoke among the scientists and said: When the lander successfully landed on the south pole of the moon, I was attending the BRICS conference in South Africa and could not be with the scientists. But my whole mind was here. Those last 15 minutes I was very nervous.
After winning, I thought I should go to ISRO first. I have come here to greet the scientists in person after concluding the conference.
I bow to the dedication of the scientists behind this project. I salute your patience, hard work and inspiration. I am thankful to the scientists who have made India proud. We have proved the pride and honor of our country to the world.
Women scientists have played an important role in the success of the Chandrayaan-3 programme. In honor of their contribution, the place where the lander landed on the moon will be named ‘Sivashakti Centre’. August 23 is celebrated as National Space Day every year after the successful moon landing.
The place where the Chandrayaan-2 lander crashed on the moon in 2019 will be named as ‘Thiranga Centre’. It is named to show that failure is not permanent. Let’s encourage future generations to take up science with passion and use it for public good. People’s welfare is our ultimate commitment. This was said by Prime Minister Modi.
ISRO Chairman Somnath said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the office to felicitate each and every one of us. We heard his wonderful speech. He praised us a lot. I am happy that he named him ‘Thiranga’ and ‘Sivashakti’. Our country is in the fields of science, technology and engineering. He also explained about the programs to be undertaken for the young generation in order to strengthen them. We express our gratitude to the Prime Minister,” he said.
