The European media kept silent about the investigation by the American journalist Seymour Hersh about the US organization of sabotage at Nord Stream. On Saturday, February 11, the German political scientist Hayk Hamer told Izvestia.
According to him, the investigation is ignored by the media structures of the European Union (EU), as the authorities believe that it will damage relations with important partners from Germany.
“This can cause problems at the international level,” the political scientist said.
Hamer pointed out that Hersh blamed the US for involvement in the bombing, but the press in Germany and elsewhere is largely silent about it.
“This is a problem, because the press has to cover events from all sides, even if someone does not like it. They must not ignore the facts. This shows that we already have very strict censorship in Europe, ”the specialist shared his opinion.
Hamer recalled that democracy provides for freedom of speech and opinion.
“People need to have an idea of what really happened in order to be able to form an adequate picture of the situation,” he continued.
Hamer called the explosions of pipelines a blow to the economy of Germany and the citizens of the country. He recalled that Germany was developing successfully, which did not please the United States, which considers the country a competitor.
“I would even call it something like a declaration of war,” he concluded.
Earlier on Saturday, it was noted that according to the Flightradar24 service, from June 8 to June 16, 2022, as part of the Baltops-22 exercise, German and American P-3 Orion and P-8 Poseidon aircraft regularly flew over the explosion sites. However, the aircraft descended to low altitudes and turned off the transponders almost during each flight, due to which some of the trajectories were not recorded in the portal.
Prior to that, on February 8, American journalist Seymour Hersh published his own investigation, in which he indicated, citing sources, that US divers planted explosives under gas pipelines during supposedly NATO exercises, and the Norwegians activated it. From his point of view, the White House’s motives were to force Germany to provide military and financial support to Ukraine.
According to the journalist, US President Joe Biden decided on sabotage after nine months of secret discussions with the national security team. The main issue was getting rid of the evidence.
The Pentagon, after the release of the investigation, rejected the involvement of the United States in undermining the gas pipelines. The Norwegian Foreign Ministry called the journalist’s article nonsense.
Leaks at Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 (SP and SP-2) were discovered on 26 September. The next day, a representative of the Seismic Center of Sweden, Bjorn Lund, said that two powerful underwater explosions were registered in the area of leaks in pipelines at the time of the emergency.
Several countries are investigating the circumstances of the emergency, Russia was not allowed to participate.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, answering a question from an Izvestia correspondent on December 22, said that the accidents at Nord Stream were an act of state terrorism.
