Tezpur: President Drabupati Murmu flew in a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jet today (Saturday) for the first time. He took off from Assam’s Tezpur Air Force Base. Various security arrangements were made for his journey. This made her the second female president to fly in a fighter jet.
Drarubathi Murmu is on a state visit to Assam from April 6 to 9. In this case, he flew in a fighter jet from Tezpur airport today as part of the trip. Earlier he was accorded a rousing welcome at the Air Force base.
Pradeepa Patil was the first to fly in a fighter jet. In 2009, Pradeepa Patil flew in a Sukhoi fighter jet from Pune Air Force Base when she was the President of the Republic. She had the distinction of being the first woman President of India to fly in a fighter jet. Dravidi Murmu has now become the second female President to fly in a fighter jet.
It is noteworthy that APJ Abdul Kalam and Ram Nath Kovind have also traveled in a fighter jet when they were the President of the Republic.
