Kochi: After the government decided to subsidize household cylinders again, it was announced that cooking gas cylinders will be reduced by Rs.200. Along with this, public sector oil marketing companies have also reduced the prices of commercial cylinders. 14.2 kg domestic cylinders will come down by Rs 200 while 19 kg commercial cylinders will come down to Rs 158. The new price will be effective from today. A 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder will cost Rs 1,522 in Delhi.

In 2016, the Ujwala Yojana scheme was announced to provide free gas connection to women below the poverty line. About 33 crore beneficiaries will get subsidy under the Ujwala scheme. The government will provide additional connections under the scheme.
The price of commercial and domestic LPG cylinders is fixed by the government on the first day of every month. The new rates will be effective from September 1. In August, the price of commercial LPG cylinders was reduced by Rs 99.75. But in July, the price of commercial LPG gas cylinders was increased by Rs 7 each. Prior to the hike, the price of commercial LPG cylinders had been reduced continuously in May and June.
