The event included the participation of a priest in charge of blessing the place, who took advantage of the occasion to reflect on vices and their impact on the talents of young people, in an apparent allusion to the athlete.
How did Christian Cueva react when a priest poured holy water on him?
In his speech, the priest highlighted the importance of taking care of the gifts given by God, warning about how excesses can harm people, especially young people. “We have a representative of Peruvian football, Christian Cueva, and the Lord gives talents, but we are responsible for how we crucify these talents. One of the things I must tell the youth (…) drunkenness and vices kill and hinder the talents of youth,” said the clergyman, while Christian Cueva listened attentively.
However, what caught the attention of attendees and social media users was what happened during the blessing rite. In a video that went viral on TikTok the priest is seen sprinkling holy water on the newly inaugurated field, next to Christian Cueva. However, what was surprising was that the cleric poured a considerable amount of water directly onto the player’s head.
Far from being uncomfortable, the footballer known as ‘Aladdin’ reacted unexpectedly: he bowed his head to facilitate the gesture and made movements with his hands, indicating the priest to pour more holy water on him.
The moment generated various reactions on social networks, where users commented on both the priest’s speech and Cueva’s response. In addition to this, those present also had fun with the situation, even commenting that “sparks were coming out” of the footballer’s body.
