New Delhi: After a brief adjournment, both the Houses of Parliament resumed at 12 noon. Both houses were again adjourned till afternoon as the opposition parties continued to protest.
Parliament reconvened today (Tuesday) at 11 am after three consecutive days of adjournment. As they began their proceedings with Question Time in the Lok Sabha, the opposition tried to raise the Adani Group issue. Speaker Om Birla asked to use question time for it and the opposition parties continued to press their demand. Thus, the proceedings were adjourned till 12 noon.
Proceedings resumed in the Lok Sabha after an hour-long adjournment. BJP Lok Sabha member CP Joshi moved a motion of thanks for the President’s speech. Earlier, Lok Sabha members condoled the victims of the Turkey-Syria earthquake.
As CP Joshi was reading the vote of thanks on the President’s speech in the Lok Sabha, members of the opposition came to the center of Parliament and raised slogans. Following this, Speaker Om Birla adjourned the House till 1.30 pm.
Adjournment of Rajya Sabha till 2 o’clock: After a three-day deadlock, the Rajya Sabha resumed its proceedings at 11 am on Tuesday. Then Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Thankar said, “India has sent essential aid including rescue team soldiers and a team of doctors to earthquake-affected Turkey and Syria. Let us hope that those who survived the wreckage will be rescued quickly. Let’s pray. Necessary assistance will be provided to the victims,” he said.
Following this, they began to act. At that time, the opposition members raised the Adani Group issue. Following this, the proceedings were adjourned for one hour.
When the Rajya Sabha started at 12 noon, the opposition members chanted, “Prime Minister…come to Parliament”.
Meanwhile, while they were adjourned in the morning, opposition MPs from southern states staged a protest in front of the Gandhi statue in the Parliament complex to protest against the scrapping of the Maulana Abul Kalam scholarship for minorities.
