Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree that cancels the previously introduced anti-coronavirus restrictions and allows travel to Georgia, as well as the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics through automobile and other checkpoints. The relevant information appeared on May 17 on the official portal of legal information.
The new document changes the rules set out in the order of March 27, 2020, according to which traffic through automobile, rail, pedestrian, river and mixed checkpoints across the state border of Russia was limited. After the changes made, the restrictions do not apply to the exit of Russian citizens to the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as Georgia.
On March 30, Russia lifted restrictions on entry through the Mongolian and Kazakh borders. The new rules affected the land border with Mongolia and Kazakhstan.
On March 11, State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Dmitry Zverev said that the Ministry of Transport had submitted an application to the operational headquarters to lift restrictions on international travel introduced due to the situation with the spread of coronavirus.
On March 1, taking into account the decrease in the incidence of COVID-19 and the spread of the Omicron coronavirus strain, Rospotrebnadzor approved new epidemiological recommendations. In particular, the agency recommended abolishing occupancy rates for cinemas, theaters, concert halls and museums, as well as catering.
