Shimla: Pratibha Singh, President of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee and wife of former Chief Minister Veerabhadra Singh, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s effort to build a Ram temple in Ayodhya is really commendable.
In a video circulating on social media, she said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s effort to build a Ram Temple in Ayodhya is really commendable. My husband and former Chief Minister Veerbhadra Singh is a great believer in God. He has renovated various temples in Himachal Pradesh. My son Vikramaditya Singh and I have received the invitation for the Ram Temple Kumbabhishek ceremony. But he has not yet decided to go for the Kumbabhishekam to be held on the 22nd.
Hindus constitute 98 percent of the total population of Himachal Pradesh. We have great faith in Lord Rama. “We want our religion to progress,” said Pratibha Singh. Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, son of former Chief Minister Veerabhadra Singh, had already announced that he would participate in the Ayodhya Ram Temple Kumbabhishek ceremony. “My father has always supported the Ayodhya Ram Temple movement. For us, “This is not a political issue. It is a religious issue. We are Hindus. It is our culture to carry our religion forward and believe in our heritage. We will continue to move in this direction,” he had said.
The Congress party has already announced that it will not participate in the Ayodhya Ram Temple inauguration ceremony. In this regard, in a statement released by the party’s general secretary of press communication, Jayaram Ramesh, “Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Committee President Sonia Gandhi, and Congress Lok Sabha Speaker Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary received the invitation for the opening ceremony of the Ram temple to be held in Ayodhya on the 22nd. Lakhs of people worship Lord Rama in our country. Religion is a personal matter. But the RSS organization and the BJP have been building a political project of a temple in Ayodhya for a long time.
A decision has been taken to open the incomplete temple for electoral gain. Adhering to the 2019 Supreme Court verdict and respecting the sentiments of crores of Lord worshippers, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury have respectfully declined the invitation for this program organized by the RSS and BJP,” it said.
