Bengaluru: The BJP has criticized the Congress as a ‘new Muslim League’ party as the state cabinet has decided to withdraw the Prohibition of Religious Conversion Act in Karnataka.
The Karnataka Cabinet has approved the withdrawal of the Prohibition of Religion Act brought by the previous BJP government in Karnataka. The Karnataka Cabinet meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today. In this, it was decided to withdraw the Prohibition of Religion Act brought by the previous BJP government in September last year.
Speaking to the media, Legislative Affairs Minister Patil said, “The Cabinet discussed the Prohibition of Religion Act. It was decided to withdraw the Prohibition of Religion Act. A bill to this effect will be tabled in the legislative session on the 3rd of next month.”
The BJP strongly condemned this decision of the Karnataka Cabinet. Commenting on this, the party’s general secretary CD Ravi said, “Conversion mafias have ensured the withdrawal of the Prohibition Act brought by the BJP government in Karnataka. Congress is a ‘New Muslim League’ party. It will go to any extent against Hindus.”
“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s anti-Hindu plan has been exposed. Do you want to wipe out Hindus? The conversion mafia is influencing Siddaramaiah and his cabinet. Because of that, the Prohibition of Conversion Act has been withdrawn,” said senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Basana Gowda R. Patil.
