New Delhi: Power and internet were cut at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University as some students planned to screen a controversial BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In spite of that, the students have complained that stones were thrown at those who watched the documentary on cell phones.

Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2002 when riots broke out. On the 17th, the British government media BBC released a documentary about this riot. The documentary, titled “India – Questions for Modi”, contains negative comments about Prime Minister Modi.

On the 18th, the central government banned the publication of BBC’s documentary film on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms. However, comments related to the BBC documentary are being posted on social media. A link to the BBC documentary is also posted on social media. The central government also banned such social media posts.

Meanwhile, electricity and internet were cut at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University as some students planned to screen a BBC documentary on Prime Minister Modi. In spite of that, the students have complained that stones were thrown at those who watched the documentary on cell phones. Left-leaning students organized a big-screen screening of a documentary on Prime Minister Modi. Former student union president N Sai Balaji alleged that the stone pelters were members of RSS’s student wing ABVP.

JNU students protested the stone pelting incident and marched towards the Vasant Kunj police station. Later, the students staged a protest in front of the police station. Police are being deployed outside the JNU campus to maintain a tense atmosphere.
